Studies concerning the interior climate in vehicles conducted by the University of Siena and IVM Engineering on behalf of Webasto, proove, that opening the side-windows as well as operating the ventilation / A/C-system is not the best solution for the climate inside the vehicle.
The scientists in Siena started by conducting a medical review and examining the effects on the well-being of the passengers of the different options. The physical proof of these results was then compiled by the staff of IVM Engineering. By means of computer-aided, numerical measurements, the effects of different positions of a sliding sunroof on the exchange, circulation and temperature of the air inside the vehicle were collected.
A combination of a sunroof and a ventilation / A/C-system provides a good interior climate and therefore has the best effects on the reactivity of the driver and therefore has to be regarded as an active contribution for safer vehicle operation on the roads.
